New England Patriots' Tom Brady appeal to be heard on June 23

A report suggests that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's appeal against his four-match suspension by the NFL will be heard on June 23.

The appeal of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's four-game suspension for the deflategate scandal will be heard on June 23, according to a report.

The 37-year-old was banned for four matches by the NFL for being generally aware that members of the Patriots' equipment staff had deflated footballs in their AFC championship win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Brady launched an appeal on his ban which the NFL announced would be heard by commissioner Roger Goodell, despite his role in the punishment of the quarterback.

The NFL Players Association requested that Goodell recuse himself from the case, but the league have yet to issue a response their demands.

The appeal will take place after the Patriots have completed their mini-camp on June 23 at the headquarters of the NFL, reports ESPN.

New England were docked their first-round pick in the 2016 Draft and fourth-round selection in 2017, as well as handed a $1m (£641,000) fine for the scandal.
