Bill Belichick "100%" sure New England Patriots followed rules

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is "100%" sure that his team followed NFL rules in regards to the inflation of footballs in their AFC championship win.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is "100%" certain that his team followed the NFL's regulations in regards to the inflation of their footballs in the AFC championship game.

The NFL confirmed that it was investigating the Patriots after a report suggested that 11 of the 12 balls used by Belichick's side were under-inflated in their victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

However, the 62-year-old is confident that his side adhered to the rules of the league in relation to preparation of the footballs before the match.

Belichick told reporters: "I feel like this is important because there have been questions raised. And I believe now 100% that I have personally and we as an organisation have absolutely followed every rule to the letter.

"I feel on behalf of everyone in the organization, everyone that is involved in this organisation, that I need to say something."

The Patriots play the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl on February 1.
