Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Shariff Floyd has been ruled out for the rest of the pre-season campaign after undergoing minor surgery on his knee.
Floyd picked up the injury in the Vikings' opening warm-up match against the Houston Texans on August 9 and was forced to have a procedure to relieve pain in the front of his left knee.
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier confirmed that the rookie would probably not take part in either of his side's remaining pre-season games, but is hopeful that he will have the 21-year-old back for the start of the regular season.
"I don't think he'll practice until next week," Frazier is quoted as saying in The Star Tribune.
"It's nothing major. He shouldn't miss any time, as far as our regular season is concerned. He won't play this week [at San Francisco] and probably not in the Tennessee game [next week]."
Floyd was a first-round draft pick this year, being selected by the Vikings 23rd overall.
