Christian Ponder has said that the Minnesota Vikings are not looking to secure the record for most rushing yards in a season for Adrian Peterson.
The running back would need to carry the ball for almost 300 yards in the final two games of the regular season to break Eric Dickerson's record.
However, the Vikings quarterback told NFL AM: "That is not really our focus. Obviously our focus is to keep our wildcard spot that we have right now, and making the playoffs is our number one goal.
"We obviously really want Adrian to get that record and we are going to keep handing the ball off to him, and if he keeps doing what he's doing, especially the past eight games, then hopefully he'll achieve that record."
Peterson underwent major knee surgery a year ago after tearing two ligaments in the joint.
The Vikings face the Houston Texans on Sunday.
