Christian Ponder: 'I'll remain starting quarterback for Minnesota Vikings'

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder claims that he has no fears about losing his position in the team.

Quarterback Christian Ponder has insisted that he is not worried about losing the starting job at the Minnesota Vikings, despite his poor performances leading to his side beginning 0-3 this NFL season.

Vikings fans could be heard chanting for second-string quarterback Matt Cassel to be brought into the fray during Sunday's 31-27 loss at home to the Cleveland Browns.

Ponder failed to throw any touchdown passes for his 228 yards at the weekend, although he did rush for two scores, averaging 9.2 yards off of five carries.

Asked about his position after the defeat, Ponder told the team's official website: "I have no doubt I'll remain as quarterback. I think it's impossible to not hear [the chants for Cassel].

"We want to win just as bad as the fans and as bad as anyone else. We're more disappointed than they are and we have to give them something to cheer about.

"We'll see the film and see exactly what we'll have to fix, but it's just execution. We have to complete balls and make blocks, there's a ton of things we can do better."

Ponder and the Vikings will now travel to England, with their week four match against the Pittsburgh Steelers taking place at Wembley Stadium next Sunday.
