Adrian Peterson hails Wembley atmosphere

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson heaps praise upon the Wembley atmosphere after his side beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 34-27 in London on Sunday.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has hailed the atmosphere created inside Wembley Stadium during their NFL International Series match on Sunday.

Peterson scored two touchdowns as the Vikings picked up their first win of the season, beating the Pittsburgh Steelers 34-27 in the first of two matches to take place at Wembley this campaign.

The match was scheduled as a home game for the Vikings, and Peterson believes that the noise created by the crowd rivalled the atmosphere at their own Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome.

"It was great. It was full of energy. The fans went crazy. It was just a great atmosphere to play in," Peterson told reporters. "It's been great.

"The people of London have welcomed us and been great to us. I've had a wonderful time. Just being around London, it's beautiful. Man, it was electric.

"It was coming out that tunnel and just looking out and seeing that purple and yellow, it was a good mix. I think we kind of trumped them a little bit with the purple going out there. But it was full of energy, it felt like a home game."

Peterson, who is the reigning NFL MVP, rushed for 140 yards on 23 carries, including a 60-yard touchdown run.
