Brandon Fusco signs five-year deal with Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings confirm that guard Brandon Fusco has signed a new long-term contract at the club worth $25m over five years.

The Minnesota Vikings have announced that they have signed offensive lineman Brandon Fusco to a new five-year deal.

The 26-year-old was selected in the sixth round of the 2011 Draft by the Vikings, and has now committed his future to the club with a contract worth $25m [£15.3m], with $6m [£3.6m] guaranteed.

Fusco told the club's official website: "I am very excited to get this deal done and continue my career with the Minnesota Vikings. I want to first thank the Wilf family, Rick Spielman and Rob Brzezinski for taking the chance on me and believing in my abilities.

"I want to also thank my teammates and Jeff Davidson for always pushing me to become the best player I could be at this point. I have always wanted to stay in Minnesota.

"The fans and support here is great. There is no place I'd rather be. I'm looking forward to the 2014 season and helping the team reach our ultimate goal – a Super Bowl championship."

The Vikings face the St Louis Rams in their 2014 season opener tomorrow.
