Jared Allen: 'I want to win a championship'

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen hints that he may leave the club in free agency to pursue a Super Bowl win.

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has hinted that he may leave the club next year to chase a Super Bowl ring.

The 31-year-old is out of contract at the end of the 2013 season and has revealed that he may want to join a team that is capable of pushing to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Allen told USA Today: "If I continue to play, you want to try to win a championship at some point. Personal accolades can only go so far.

"I don't want to be chasing the ring. I want to earn the ring. I want to be somewhere, and obviously, you've got to have parts in place and you've got to be contenders."

Allen has been with the Vikings since the 2008 season after joining from the Kansas City Chiefs and has registered 79 sacks in his six seasons at the club.
