The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly trying to agree a long-term deal with linebacker Justin Houston.
The 26-year-old had an outstanding season for the Chiefs in the 2014 campaign as he notched 22 sacks, just one short of the NFL record set by Michael Strahan, while the linebacker was also named an All-Pro.
The Chiefs are determined to lock down Houston's future and tie him to the club for the majority of his NFL career, but the player's representatives are said to be looking to make him the highest paid linebacker in the league, reports ProFootballTalk.com.
Houston will be a free agent when the league year officially ends in March, but Andy Reid's men could also apply the franchise tag to keep him at the club on a one-year deal.
The 26-year-old has recorded 235 tackles, 48.5 sacks and one interception in his four years with the Chiefs.
