Alex Smith has no San Francisco 49ers regrets

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith admits that his journey with the San Francisco 49ers went as far as it could before he moved on.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith has insisted that he has no regrets after his time with the San Francisco 49ers and he is not looking for revenge when the two teams meet on Sunday.

The 30-year-old was the number one overall pick in the 2005 Draft and despite leading the 49ers to an NFC Championship game, he lost his role as starting quarterback to Colin Kaepernick.

However, he says that he has now closed the book on San Francisco and is focused on continuing his good form with the Chiefs.

"I did feel like it was complete," the San Jose Mercury News reports.

"I felt like we had rebounded, even if it took a lot longer than I ever thought. We got the organization back to where it needed to be and better than when I came in. So, yeah, I didn't have any regrets when I left."

Smith has excelled under coach Andy Reid in the last year or so which resulted in a new contract.
