Alex Smith: 'Kansas City Chiefs are ready for 2013'

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith says that he is ready to play his first regular season game for the team this weekend.

Alex Smith has said that he feels ready for the start of the 2013 NFL season.

The quarterback will play his first regular season game for the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend, having moved to the team in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers earlier this year.

The 29-year-old told the team's website: "I feel ready. I do feel ready, but obviously we'll find out Sunday, as a team.

"Game week is what we've been waiting for and we're ready to play the game. That's why we play football, for this challenge and I'm excited about it."

The Chiefs face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
