Andy Reid confirms Mike DeVito, Derrick Johnson out for season

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid admits that his side's defense will be without defensive end Mike DeVito and linebacker Derrick Johnson for the rest of the season.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has confirmed that defenders Mike DeVito and Derrick Johnson will miss the rest of the 2014 season.

The duo, who are starters in Reid's side's defense, both sustained torn Achilles tendon injuries in the Chiefs' opening-day defeat to the Tennessee Titans at Arrowhead Stadium.

Reid told reporters: "Alright, as far as the injuries go, Mike DeVito and DJ both have Achilles ruptures and will be out for the season, they'll have surgeries on those."

The Chiefs face the Denver Broncos in their week two clash.
