The Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions move one step closer to Super Bowl stardom with divisional wins over the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers respectively.

The Kansas City Chiefs remain on the hunt for successive Super Bowl crowns thanks to a 27-24 beating of the Buffalo Bills in Sunday's Divisional playoff encounter.

In the 55th NFL meeting between the two long-time adversaries, Andy Reid's side prevailed 27-24 to advance to the AFC Championship game, where the Baltimore Ravens await.

Another tantalising head-to-head between Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Bills star man Josh Allen went the way of the former, who threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns for Travis Kelce, although the reigning NFL champions still had a four-point deficit to make up in the fourth quarter.

Isiah Pacheco's four-yard run with 14 minutes remaining propelled the Chiefs back into a slender lead, which they clung onto for the remainder of the contest to move one step closer to back-to-back Super Bowl titles.

Either the Detroit Lions or San Francisco 49ers will await the victor of the AFC Championship battle thanks to the former's 31-23 success over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, thereby advancing to their first NFC Championship game in 33 years.

Jared Goff threw for touchdowns for Josh Reynolds and Amon-Ra St. Brown, and while the Bucs responded on both occasions, a late Derrick Barnes interception on Baker Mayfield ensured that the Lions would compete for Championship stardom for just the second time.
