Jacksonville Jaguars cut "luxury" Lonnie Pryor

The Jacksonville Jaguars cut fullback Lonnie Pryor, who general manager Dave Caldwell admits was a "luxury" that they could not afford.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have released Lonnie Pryor just a day after the fullback survived the 53-man roster cuts.

Pryor was one of seven players to be shipped out by the Jaguars to make room for new recruits claimed off waivers.

General manager Dave Caldwell admitted that it was a tough decision to get rid of the 23-year-old undrafted rookie but, with Will Ta'ufo'ou securing the role as number one fullback, Pryor was a luxury that the Jaguars could not afford.

"That was a tough one. We had a lot of discussions with that. Very few teams carry two fullbacks and Lonnie was a little bit of a luxury," Caldwell told reporters.

The Jaguars' first match of the regular season comes against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
