Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey has suffered a sprained knee during the club's pre-season training camp.

Heyward-Bey picked up the injury during a training session yesterday afternoon, although it is as yet unclear for how long the 26-year-old will be out of action.

Any serious length of time could create a problem for the Colts, who have released last season's second starter Donnie Avery and have LaVon Brazill suspended for the first four matches of the NFL season.

Reggie Wayne and TY Hilton are expected to start as receivers for the Colts, but Heyward-Bey's injury leaves them short of cover for the duo.

Heyward-Bey was a free agent before being signed by the Colts in April, having been released by the Oakland Raiders.
