Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a broken leg and a torn LCL in his knee, according to a report.
Cushing was forced off in the third quarter of his side's 17-16 defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs yesterday after running back Jamaal Charles's helmet made contact with his surgically repaired left knee.
The 26-year-old, who suffered a torn ACL in the same knee in week five of last season, was helped off the field by trainers before being carted to the locker room for treatment.
Cushing was on crutches after the game but said that he would wait for an MRI scan later today before revealing the full extent of the injury.
The defeat was the Texans' fifth in a row heading into their bye week, leaving them third in the AFC South.
