Joe Mays "worried" about Gary Kubiak

Houston Texans linebacker Joe Mays admits that he is "worried" about head coach Gary Kubiak after he collapsed during Sunday's match against the Indianapolis Colts.

Houston Texans linebacker Joe Mays has admitted that he is "worried" about head coach Gary Kubiak following his touchline collapse on Sunday.

Kubiak remains in hospital having collapsed while leaving the field at half time of the Texans' 27-24 defeat against the Indianapolis Colts at the weekend.

The 52-year-old's return date is still unknown as doctors attempt to locate the reason behind the collapse, and Mays backed whoever would step up in his place to do a good job.

"We're still worried about Kub, making sure he's OK. We want him back here, but it's a process he has to go through," ESPN quotes Mays as saying.

"At the same time we know there's still work to be done. We wanted to come in and go to work as usual and fix the mistakes that we have. I think we are in great hands with whoever has to step up.

"We have a great group of coaches, we have a great group of players. At the end of the day, we're going to go out and play great football. That's how I feel about it."

The Texans have lost six matches in a row and face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
