Gary Kubiak has said that Ed Reed has shown progress since taking to the practice field with the Houston Texans.
The safety, who joined the AFC South side as a free agent earlier this year, underwent hip surgery during the off-season, coming off the team's physically unable to perform list last weekend.
The head coach told the Texans' official website: "He's come a long way. There's some progress that would have to be made to get him ready to go on Monday, but boy has he made a lot of progress.
"We'll put him in his pads tomorrow and see how he responds to that, but there has been great progress.
"I don't want to say it can't happen because there's been such good progress, so we'll see day-to-day right now. Hopefully, we'll do a little more tomorrow."
The Texans will play the San Diego Chargers in their opening game of the season on Monday night.
