Aaron Rodgers hails "important" away win

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers believes that his side's first away win of the season yesterday was a "character-building" victory for his side.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has stressed the importance of his side picking up their first away win of the season yesterday.

The Packers edged past the reigning Super Bowl champions Baltimore Ravens 19-17 in a match that took a while to get going as Rodgers was sacked three times and Joe Flacco caught on five occasions.

However, Rodgers finally provided the first touchdown with a 64-yard pass to Jordy Nelson late in the third quarter and, despite two fourth-quarter touchdowns for the Ravens, Green Bay held out for what Rodgers believes will be a "character-building" win.

"Days like today remind you of why you love this game so much. Offensively, we're struggling a little bit, but we found a way to make enough plays to win," Rodgers told The AP.

"It's important to win on the road in this league if you want to make the playoffs. This was a tough environment.

"This is a team that's defending champs, a football team that's very well-coached, great players on both sides of the ball. This is a great team character-building win."

Despite the win, Green Bay remain third in the NFC North, although they do have a game in hand over both the Detroit Lions and the Chicago Bears above them.
