Clay Matthews has said that he will return as soon as he can after having pins to help repair his broken thumb removed.
The Green Bay Packers linebacker, who picked up the injury during the team's 22-9 win over the Detroit Lions earlier this week, is due to have the metalwork removed on Monday.
The 27-year-old told reporters: "I'm not a patient guy. I'll never learn to be patient. I'll have more news when they take the pins out.
"I feel a rush to get back, from within, but winning definitely helps. I have to be smart. The doctors are being very smart and cautious with me as well.
"So we'll see. It's obviously very frustrating, but I'll try to be back in there as soon as I can."
Matthews has made 18 tackles, three sacks and forced two fumbles this season.
