Brett Favre: 'I was never as good a quarterback as Aaron Rodgers'

Green Bay Packers legend Brett Favre says that Aaron Rodgers is a better quarterback than he ever was.

Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has insisted that he was never as good as the franchise's current QB Aaron Rodgers is at the moment.

Favre was honoured on the field at half time of the Packers' clash with rivals Chicago Bears on Thursday night as the franchise retired his No.4 jersey in honour of the 46-year-old's 15-year career at the Wisconsin side.

Rodgers became the fastest quarterback to reach 250 touchdown passes in that game with a first-half throw to Eddie Lacy on his 121st NFL appearance, and Favre described his replacement as "almost too good".

"When I watch [Rodgers], he is good... I don't know what else to say," Favre said at a charity function.

"You kind of know what you get with Aaron Rodgers. I never was as good as him. I can throw it. I can throw it with anybody. But, man, everything looks so good when he is at his best.

"Is Aaron a different quarterback than I am? Sure. He is a lot more polished than I am. I think that he is a tremendous quarterback. As long as he is playing, they have a chance to win it all."

Rodgers replaced Favre as the Packers' quarterback in 2008.
