Derek Carr has said that he is hoping to prove to NFL teams that he can "lead their franchise" ahead of this year's Draft.
The former Fresno State Bulldogs quarterback is expected to be a first-round pick in this year's Draft in May.
In an interview for the official website of the first overall pick holders, the Houston Texans, the 22-year-old said: "Really just trying to prove to these teams that I can play in their systems. Prove to them that I can lead their franchise. There's so much that goes into the quarterback position, with such little details, that I'm trying to show them 'Hey, I take it very seriously'.
"Leading up to this, I did absolutely everything I could on the field. I never took a snap under center, or I never took a snap from the gun while training for this.
"[Older brother David Carr, who used to play for the Texans] always taught me you're going to be praised and you're going to be criticised. Ignore both. Because neither matter. Just continue to work hard."
Carr played 13 games for the Bulldogs in his final college season, finishing the campaign with 5,083 passing yards, 50 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
