Jerry Jones: 'We will ease the burden on DeMarco Murray should he return'

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones admits that the club will ease the burden on running back DeMarco Murray if he returns to the NFC East outfit for the 2015 campaign.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has revealed that his side will lighten the load on running back DeMarco Murray if he re-signs with the club next season.

The 27-year-old will become a free agent when the league year officially ends in March, if he is unable to come to a long-term agreement with the Cowboys in a year where he led the NFL in rushing yards and carries.

Jones has admitted that the Cowboys would alleviate the burden on Murray if he returned for the 2015 season after he recorded 392 carries in the 2014 campaign, 80 more than the next leading back in the league.

He told reporters: "I don't think we would go into a season now with Murray thinking that he was going to have the load that he had last year. I don't believe we would.

"Murray is such a warrior and Murray is such a horse, he'd actually get upset if you took him out of the game. But it was (not] the thing to do for Murray to let those guys have more touches. Now, why did we go along with it?

"We just happened to be doing you know what? Winning. We were very successful so it's hard to make that change."

Murray admitted last week that he wants to return to the Cowboys, despite being in a dispute with the club over the terms of a new deal.
