Executive vice president Stephen Jones: 'Dallas Cowboys defense must be better'

Stephen Jones is keen to see a number of players on the Dallas Cowboys roster step their game up following a disappointing season so far.

Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones has insisted that the team's defense must improve quickly if they are to make the NFL playoffs.

Via an interview with ESPN on Wednesday, Jones called out individual names from whom he wants better performances.

The Cowboys defense ranks last in the league in yards per game allowed and last in pass defense, while they sit 28th in run defense and 26th in points allowed per game.

Jones said: "They've all got to be better. Sean Lee has got to be better. Brandon Carr has got to be better. Bruce Carter has got to be better. Jason Hatcher has got to be better. We've all got to be better.

"We've got to do a better job when we do have injuries of having better players to get up and be there. It's an organizational thing."

Dallas are locked in a battle with the Philadelphia Eagles to make the post-season, currently sitting in second spot in the NFC East.
