Jerry Jones backs playoff expansion

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones backs the idea of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to expand the playoffs to 14 teams.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has backed the idea to expand the NFL playoffs from 12 to 14 teams.

For the past three seasons the Cowboys have missed out on the playoffs in the final game of the regular campaign in losses to each of their NFC East rivals.

"The sooner the better for the Dallas Cowboys," Jones told ESPN. "The more of our teams that have a chance to get in the tournament, I think, it's the better."

Dallas have finished with an 8-8 record for three consecutive seasons.
