Dallas Cowboys add quarterback Brandon Weeden

Free agent quarterback Brandon Weeden signs a two-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys following his release by the Cleveland Browns.

The Dallas Cowboys have announced that they have signed free agent quarterback Brandon Weeden.

The 30-year-old was released by the Cleveland Browns last week, just two years removed from being selected by them in the first round of the 2012 Draft.

Due to fears over the future of backup quarterback Kyle Orton, the Cowboys decided to move to sign Weeden to a two-year deal worth $1.23m (£739,000) to back up Tony Romo.

Weeden threw for 1,731 yards along with nine touchdowns and nine interceptions in the 2013 season.
