Mike Pettine insists Brian Hoyer is staying with Cleveland Browns

Mike Pettine insists that Rex Grossman's arrival at the Cleveland Browns does not mean that Brian Hoyer is under further threat.

Cleveland Browns coach Mike Pettine has insisted that quarterback Brian Hoyer will stay with the franchise despite the addition of Rex Grossman.

Pettine was keen to stress that the signing of another quarterback was in no way a reflection of how they have judged the competition between Hoyer and rookie Johnny Manziel.

When asked about Hoyer potentially being expendable as a result of Grossman's arrival, Pettine's response was "absolutely not", ESPN reports.

Grossman was signed on Tuesday after spending the last four seasons with the Washington Redskins, while Pettine claimed that they have not decided if they will move forward with three quarterbacks.
