Marc Trestman: 'Henry Melton, Earl Bennett making progress'

Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman feels that Henry Melton and Earl Bennett are making solid progress to be fit for the first week of the regular season.

Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman has revealed that injured duo Henry Melton and Earl Bennett are making progress in their comebacks from injury.

Both players have sustained concussions during the summer in the Bears' pre-season games but stand a chance of being fit in time for week one of the regular season.

Trestman told the Chicago Tribune: "Henry is into running. Earl is day-to-day. I know he was with some of the medical people this morning, I haven't checked. Henry ran today.

"He's going to run tomorrow and Wednesday and pick up that running significantly."

Chicago open their regular season on September 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
