Carolina Panthers rookie guard Edmund Kugbila has suffered a minor training setback after his very first practice with his new club.

Head coach Ron Rivera said that Kugbila should recover in a week's time and is looking forward to seeing how the new recruits settle in to the offence he plans to run.

"Little disappointed with what happened with Kugbila yesterday," Rivera told the Panthers' official website. "We brought him out and today he was a little bit more sore than we had hoped.

"[The players are] new to the system and the timing and the relationship. Getting the opportunity to work with these guys is going to be critical for us."

Kugbila was the 108th overall pick in the 2013 draft.
