Bruce Arians 'desperate' for Larry Fitzgerald stay

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians is desperate for veteran wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald to stay with his side for the 2015 season and beyond.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians has revealed that he is desperate for wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald to remain at the club.

The 31-year-old is due to make $15m [£9.9m] next season and is worth $23.2m [£15.2m] on the salary cap, which the franchise are reportedly reluctant to accept.

As a result, Fitzgerald will either have to restructure his contract or be released by the Cardinals after 12 years with the team.

"We definitely, desperately want him to stay," Arians told the team's official website. "He knows that. It's really his decision."

Fitzgerald recorded 63 receptions for 784 yards and two touchdowns in the 2014 season.
