EastEnders to scrap storylines after coronavirus break?

EastEnders producers will reportedly use the soap's upcoming break from the airwaves as an opportunity to ditch several ongoing storylines.

EastEnders producers have reportedly decided to axe a number of storylines due to the coronavirus-enforced break.

The soap stopped filming new episodes in mid-March as the UK entered lockdown and is not due to start up again until the end of this month.

As a result, the episode due to be broadcast on Tuesday, June 16 will be the final new episode for around two months, with a new behind-the-scenes show and reruns of classic episodes helping to fill the void in the meantime.

According to The Sun, execs on the soap have decided to use the time off as an opportunity to rethink storylines that were ongoing before the pandemic and will ditch the most tedious ones.

The upcoming break will mark the first time that EastEnders has gone off air in its 35-year history.
