Leicester Tigers bounce back to see off Sale Sharks

Leicester Tigers overcome a 13-3 half-time deficit to eventually prevail 29-13 victors against Sale Sharks at Welford Road this afternoon.

Leicester Tigers have maintained their winning start to this season's LV= Cup campaign by seeing off Sale Sharks 29-13 following a dominant second-half display at Welford Road.

The visitors took control of the game early on with a couple of successful penalties from the boot of Nick Macleod, while Michael Patterson crossed over following a great driving maul which came shortly after Matt Smith was sin-binned for pulling back.

Freddie Burns added the seven-time winners' only points of the first half when he found the sticks with a penalty of his own, although Leicester asserted their authority on the contest in the second 40.

Three minutes after the restart, Harry Thacker opened the Tigers' try count when he touched down under the posts, while Smith redeemed himself by crossing over to put the home side ahead.

Mike Haley's yellow card on the hour was capitalised on further by the Tigers, and Miles Benjamin in particular, who touched down in the corner having run past three defenders, before adding his second try to seal the win 13 minutes from time.
