Warrington Wolves' Lee Briers avoids suspension for punching

Warrington Wolves half-back Lee Briers avoids a suspension following his guilty plea for punching.

Warrington Wolves star Lee Briers will not be hit with a suspension for punching after pleading guilty to the incident.

The half-back was charged with the offence that occurred during his side's 40-20 victory over Leeds Rhinos on Saturday.

Despite initially facing a sanction, the 35-year-old entered an early guilty plea to the grade A offence, meaning that he has escaped a ban, according to BBC Sport.

Briers will be available for his side's Super League playoff semi-final on September 26.
