Wakefield hold off a second-half comeback from Catalans to record a 32-22 win, just their second victory of the season.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats recorded just their second Super League victory of the season with a 32-22 win over Catalans Dragons this afternoon.

The Wildcats appeared to be cruising after 23 minutes as they raced into an 18-0 lead courtesy of tries from Ben Cockayne, Peter Fox and Andy Raleigh, all of which were converted by Isaac John.

Catalans pulled six points back when Scott Dureau kicked successfully following Greg Mounis's try but Wakefield scores either side of half time put them firmly in control.

Fox touched down for a second time with the last action of the opening period before Danny Kirmond crossed to put them 30-6 in-front.

The Dragons refused to give in though and chipped away at Wakefield's advantage throughout the second half.

Scores from Dureau, Vincent Duport and Clint Greenshields reduced the deficit to just eight points but they were ultimately in vain as John added a late kick to complete the scoring and secure the points for the Wildcats.
