Salford City Reds have been fined for fielding an extra man in their Super League victory over Castleford Tigers.

Brian Noble's side had 14 players on the pitch for a brief period during the 34-30 win last month, and have now been slapped with a £10,000 penalty.

"Salford City Reds have been fined £10,000 for fielding a 14th man towards the end of the Super League fixture vs. Castleford Tigers on April 27," read a statement on the club's website.

"The Reds have 14 days to pay the fine or launch an appeal. No further comment will be issued at the time."

Salford, who currently lie bottom of the Super League, are in Challenge Cup action against Warrington Wolves this weekend.
