Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina has received a speeding fine of £96,000 - a record amount in the UK.

The 24-year-old failed to tell police on three occasions who was behind the wheel when his Mercedes was clocked speeding, later admitting that he was unsure if his brother or cousin - both staying with him at the time - had been driving.

According to The Sun, Lemina was ordered to pay £96,000 - three times his weekly salary - as a result of ignoring police letters on the matter.

The Gabon international is also said to have received 18 points on his licence and has been banned from driving for one year.

The previous British record fine for a motoring offence was £86,000, given to TV presenter Ant McPartlin for a drink-driving incident in April.
