How Uruguay could line up against Peru

Sports Mole looks at how Uruguay could line up in their Copa America quarter-final against Peru.

Uruguay will be looking to book their spot in the semi-finals of the 2019 Copa America when they take on Peru at the Arena Fonte Nova in Bahia on Saturday.

La Celeste are the most successful team in the history of the Copa America, having lifted the trophy on 15 occasions. Their last trophy was back in 2011, though, and their last two tournaments have been a disappointment.

Indeed, Uruguay lost in the quarter-finals of the 2015 competition before failing to make it out of the group stages 12 months later.

Oscar Tabarez's side are the favourites to reach the semi-finals, though, and they breezed through the group stages of this summer's competition, collecting seven points from their three matches to top Group C.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at how the Sky Blues could line up against Peru this weekend.

POSS URU XI vs. PER

Doubtful: Diego Laxalt (hamstring), Lucas Torreira (illness), Cristhian Stuani (illness)

Uruguay's main injury concern surrounds Diego Laxalt, who picked up a hamstring injury against Japan and was not involved against Chile last time out.

Should Laxalt fail to recover in time then Giovanni Gonzalez should get the nod, with the 24-year-old taking the AC Milan defender's place against Japan before being included in the XI in Uruguay's final group game.

Lucas Torreira and Cristhian Stuani are both struggling with illness, meanwhile, but both should recover to feature. The former should start while the latter will be an attacking option off the bench.

Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani have four goals between them this summer and will start as the front two, with Nicolas Lodeiro and Nahitan Nandez also expected to feature in attack.
