Garry Monk: 'Leon Britton will keep delivering'

Swansea City boss Garry Monk believes that Leon Britton will deliver for many years to come, as the midfielder prepares to make his return to the team following a succession of injuries.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk believes that Leon Britton will produce the goods for many years to come, as he prepares to make his return to the team.

The midfielder has made just seven appearances in all competitions so far this season due to persistent knee and groin injuries.

However, Monk is confident that there are no concerns over the 32-year-old's long-term fitness.

"It has been a difficult season for Leon — he has had quite a few injuries and he has missed a few games because of a few niggles," the Swans boss told the South Wales Evening Post.

"The problem is he has had a niggly season and people on the outside might start thinking he is near the end, but Leon has a lot more to offer. He is nowhere near the end right now.

"You always need someone like him, who delivers in training every day but can also do it on the pitch, and Leon will do that for many years yet. He will be playing an important part on the pitch for us along with the other players we have in that position."

Britton could feature in Saturday's Premier League clash against Sunderland.
