Michael Owen claims that he is "fit enough" to make his Stoke City debut against Man City this weekend.

Michael Owen believes that he is "fit enough" to make his Stoke City debut when they face Manchester City this weekend.

The former England striker joined the Potters on a free transfer last week after being released by Manchester United this summer.

He has since been training with his new teammates, attempting to recapture his match fitness after missing much of last season with injury.

While he has admitted that he is not up to full capacity yet, Owen has claimed that he is "ready" to feature when Stoke welcome the Premier League champions to the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

"I'm not sure what the manager has got in store," Owen said, speaking at a Thursday morning press conference.

"I feel as if I am fit enough to take part in a game. I'm not quite 100% confident or happy in my general touch and different bits and bobs, but that will come.

"So we'll see what the manager has got in mind, but I'd like to think I'll improve as the weeks go on."

Potters boss Tony Pulis earlier revealed that he is uncertain on whether Owen will debut this coming weekend.
