Erik Lamela eager to sign new deal at Tottenham Hotspur

Erik Lamela says that he wants a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur because he sees his long-term future at White Hart Lane.

Erik Lamela has claimed that he wants a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur because he is "very happy" at the club.

The Argentine joined the North London outfit from Roma in 2013 for a reported £30m fee.

The 24-year-old took time to settle at the Premier League club, but he has since integrated into the team and wants to commit his long-term future to Spurs.

Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Christian Eriksen were among a number of first-team stars to sign new contracts at the beginning of the season, but Lamela is yet to receive fresh terms.

"I would like to [sign a new deal] because I am very happy here," Lamela told the London Evening Standard. "I feel part of this team which is improving. I have a group of excellent teammates and I feel very good around them.

"It would make me happy to play for more years in this shirt. Will I be the next to sign? Let's hope so. At the moment I am thinking only of playing and about Saturday's game against Leicester."

Tottenham currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, one point behind top three Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.
