Andre Villas-Boas pleased with "important" win

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas describes his side's 2-1 win at Fulham as an "important" result because it keeps Spurs in touch with the "top teams".

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has described tonight's victory at Fulham as an "important" result.

Vlad Chiriches and Lewis Holtby were on target in the second half at Craven Cottage, as Spurs came from behind to win 2-1.

The victory ended Tottenham's four-match winless run in the Premier League and moved the North London club to sixth in the table, two points above Manchester United, who lost 1-0 at home to Everton.

"To keep in touch with people at the top was important, especially after some surprising results this evening," Villas-Boas told BBC Sport.

"It was important for us to be in there among the top teams to take our challenge through. December and January are very important months in the Premier League."

Next up for Spurs is a trip to Wearside to face Sunderland on Saturday evening.
