Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane denies that he is in need of a rest, despite drawing another blank in the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has denied reports that he is suffering from fatigue following another blank against Liverpool on Saturday.

Questions were raised over Kane's workload during the World Cup this summer and, despite the England skipper winning the Golden Boot in Russia, those concerns have extended into the new domestic season.

Kane has now gone 249 minutes without a goal following a busy year for club and country, but he is eager to rediscover his scoring touch against Inter Milan at San Siro on Tuesday night.

"People are always going to look for stuff, especially when you are a big part of the team and someone who is there to get the goals. As a team we can all do better and as the striker you get spoken about more, but I feel sharp and fit and if I wasn't the manager would not be picking me," Kane told reporters.

"He believes in me, I believe in myself and hopefully I can score a couple of goals on Tuesday and it will be put to bed. I said in regard to signing players the gaffer believed we had a strong squad and he did not want to sign payers for the sake of it. It showed huge trust in the players and we have to repay it.

"Energy wise there was no fatigue but it was not good enough with the ball. We will bounce back - through the season we are one of the fittest squads and we will continue to be this year."

Kane has scored twice in Tottenham's opening five games of the season.
