Newcastle United made it back-to-back Premier League wins by coming from behind to stun Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

Hosts Spurs dominated the first half and had the lead at the break thanks to Emmanuel Adebayor's header.

The Magpies turned it around in the second half as substitute Sammy Ameobi struck within seven seconds of the restart, before Ayoze Perez headed home the winner not long after.

Was the result fair?

In the end, you would probably say yes. Spurs weren't great in the first half but they were more threatening than Newcastle and 1-0 in their favour was about right at the break. The game turned on Newcastle's clever equaliser straight from kickoff and from there, Spurs did not do anywhere near enough.

Spurs' performance

After starting the season with two wins in a row, Spurs have been victorious in just one of the seven games since. It is really worrying for Mauricio Pochettino with his side now down in the bottom half of the table. As mentioned above, they did enough to be leading at half time but then allowed Newcastle back into the game with some sloppy defending at the kickoff. Jack Colback's ball over the top was a good one, but Eric Dier should never have allowed Ameobi to steal in behind him. From then on, the likes of Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Nacer Chadli especially did not do enough in the final third. One positive for Pochettino? The lung-busting performance of Danny Rose down the left.

Newcastle's performance

A home win over Leicester City last weekend was not all that surprising, but going to White Hart Lane and winning their first away game this season will be a huge boost for Alan Pardew and Newcastle. They looked ever so blunt in the first half but then were clinical after half time. Their two goals were their only shots on target and both were top finishes by Ameobi and Perez, who was making his full debut in the daunting lone-striker role. Pardew's half-time substitutions certainly made a big impact, with Ameobi scoring the equaliser and Remy Cabella providing the pinpoint cross that Perez flicked home.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Sammy Ameobi: It is difficult to highlight one player who really stood out in today's game, so we are going to credit Ameobi for his run and excellent finish that turned the game on its head. Had Newcastle simply hoofed the ball forward like many teams do from kickoff, the scoreline could have been very different. An inventive way to start the second half and Ameobi could not have done any better.

Biggest gaffe

While Ameobi has to be credited for the run and finish, Dier has to also be lambasted for allowing Colback's ball inside him for Ameobi to score.

Referee performance

Anthony Taylor had a couple of penalty shouts aimed his way in the first half, but waved away both and probably rightly so. There were few other contentious decisions for him to deal with.

What next?

Spurs: Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion are the next to visit the Lane in the League Cup on Tuesday before Spurs travel to Aston Villa next Sunday.

Newcastle: The Magpies are also in League Cup action as they travel to Manchester City on Wednesday before hosting Liverpool on Saturday lunchtime.
