David Silva: 'No excuses'

Spain attacker David Silva says that his team have no excuses following their elimination in the group stages of the World Cup.

Spain attacker David Silva has insisted that his team can have no excuses following their elimination in the group stages of this summer's World Cup.

La Roja lost each of their first two Group B fixtures in Brazil, with zero points seeing the holders eliminated with one game to spare.

"I think back and back. We won two European Championships and the World Cup and the dates were the same," AS reports Silva as saying.

"I don't think the dates are an excuse, although there are a lot of games and it is increasingly difficult to endure it physically. The team in general hasn't been good and our opponents have been. We have faced two good teams that have gone through.

"We have to know how to lose. There are no excuses. We have not been good and our rivals have. We have to try to finish well. We haven't been good and this World Cup hasn't been good for us. It hasn't been easy. It's hard for us to come home at the first exit."

Spain conclude their World Cup against Australia tomorrow.
