Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Real Sociedad

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's La Liga clash with Real Sociedad.

Real Madrid will kick off their 2020-21 La Liga campaign with a trip to Real Sociedad on Sunday night.

Los Blancos won their 34th La Liga title last season, ultimately finishing five points clear of second-placed Barcelona at the summit having picked up 87 points from their 38 matches.

Zinedine Zidane's side will be determined to start their new campaign with a victory this weekend ahead of matches against Real Betis and Real Valladolid before the end of the month.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of the clash.

Eden Hazard

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: September 20 (vs. Sociedad)

Hazard is currently battling an ankle problem and was not involved in Madrid's pre-season clash with Getafe on Tuesday. The Belgium international has not been officially ruled out of this weekend's contest, but he is a major doubt for the team's first game of the new domestic campaign.

Martin Odegaard

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: September 20 (vs. Sociedad)

Odegaard is back with Madrid this season following a successful loan spell at Sociedad in 2019-20. The 21-year-old could be in line to make just his third appearance for Los Blancos, although a knee problem means that he is a major doubt as Sunday's contest draws ever nearer.

Gareth Bale

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: September 20 (vs. Sociedad)

Bale picked up a knee problem during the recent international break and was also not involved in Tuesday's pre-season clash with Getafe. The Wales international is thought to be closing in on a return to Tottenham Hotspur, although he remains a Madrid player for the moment.

Marco Asensio

Possible return date: September 20 (vs. Sociedad)

A knee injury is threatening to rule Asensio out of this weekend's contest with Sociedad. The Spain international's latest issue is not believed to be serious, but he was left out of the pre-season clash with Getafe.

Isco

Isco is currently struggling to overcome an ankle injury in time for the first match of the season. The playmaker has not been officially ruled out of the contest but is a huge doubt at this stage.
