Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Osasuna

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's La Liga clash with Osasuna.

Real Madrid secured a narrow 1-0 win against Sevilla to move into second in La Liga on Sunday night.

Karim Benzema's second-half header preserved Los Blancos' unbeaten - yet disappointing - start to the campaign and they are now only behind Athletic Bilbao on goal difference.

Zinedine Zidane's side were keen to make amends for their humbling in France, having lost 3-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in midweek.

They will hope to build some momentum now as they host Osasuna, who are also unbeaten, but have drawn their last four games since winning on opening day.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the match.

Luka Modric

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: September 28 (vs. Atletico Madrid)

The Croatian was thought to have an outside chance of recovering from the injury he sustained on international duty in time to face Sevilla, but it now seems more likely that he will be rested in the hopes of featuring against Atletico Madrid, although it is more likely that he will only return to full fitness early next month.

Marco Asensio

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Asensio continues his long road to recovery following a serious knee injury. It is possible that he may not feature again until next season.

Brahim Diaz

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: September 25 (vs. Osasuna)

Diaz did not make the matchday squad against Sevilla but could be in contention to make the bench for the visit of Osasuna as he recovers from a niggling groin injury.

Isco

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: September 25 (vs. Osasuna)

The attacking midfielder is back in training and has an outside chance of recovering in time to play a part against Osasuna, but has missed the last four games and is short of fitness as well.

Marcelo

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Neck
Possible return date: September 28 (vs. Atletico Madrid)

Marcelo, like Modric, is likely to sit the next game out in the hopes that he can recover from his neck injury in time to play in the Madrid derby. He seems to have a better chance of featuring than the Croatian.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

Zidane has no suspension issues heading into the game at the Santiago Bernabeu.
