Mark Warburton: 'Rangers deserve more respect'

Mark Warburton says that Rangers deserve to be shown more respect after starting the season with 11 straight victories.

Mark Warburton has said that Rangers deserved to be given more respect following their Scottish League Cup exit at the hands of St Johnstone.

Rangers received criticism after that result but responded with a 4-0 victory at Greenock Morton.

"As a team we deserved a little bit more respect than that," Warburton told BBC Sport.

"The boys were hungry, they felt disappointed after Tuesday. No-one wants to lose a game of football but also some of the comments were disrespectful to how they played for the first 11 games. They played 11, won 11.

"It speaks volumes for their character and their work ethic to then see the type of comments that they got hurt them, annoyed them, so they were waiting for today's game."

Rangers have now extended their unbeaten streak in the Scottish Championship to eight matches.
