Norwich manager Chris Hughton reveals that Gary Hooper has gone for a precautionary X-ray but shouldn't have suffered significant damage to his shin.

Gary Hooper has gone to hospital for a precautionary X-ray and could miss Norwich City's season opener against Everton, manager Chris Hughton has revealed.

The striker was taken off on a stretcher in the Canaries' pre-season victory over Panathinaikos at the weekend, but Hughton is hoping that it is just a "whack".

"He has gone to hospital for a precautionary X-ray. He got a whack on the side of his shin," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"We're hoping it's OK and just a whack that will be a bit sore for a while."

Hooper, 25, joined Norwich from Celtic last month.
