Stephen Keshi critical of Nigerian supporters

Stephen Keshi criticises some Nigerian fans for targeting his squad early in their World Cup campaign.

Nigeria manager Stephen Keshi has admitted that the criticism of some of his players from their supporters has left him disappointed.

Keshi's side were targeted by the fans for their goalless draw with Iran, before a 1-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina saw them edge a step closer to the knockout stages of the World Cup.

"England and Spain are out of the World Cup, and nobody in those countries has raised hell about their teams' performances, but yet we get criticised for drawing against Iran," the 52-year-old told reporters.

"The fans have gone to the extent of insulting the players and their families. So how will they get inspired or motivated?

"They keep insulting the players, and yet you want them to keep playing for Nigeria? If I were a player now, I'd stop playing for the national team."

Nigeria take on Argentina on Wednesday night needing just a draw to be certain of their spot in the last 16.
