Pepe Mel "very pleased" with West Bromwich Albion draw

West Bromwich Albion manager Pepe Mel admits that he is "very pleased" with the team's 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League.

Pepe Mel has said that he is "very pleased" with West Bromwich Albion's 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League this evening.

The visitors had led thanks to a first-half goal from Branislav Ivanovic, but Victor Anichebe scored late on to earn a draw for the Baggies.

"I am very pleased. The players worked hard and were strong. If we scored the goal earlier, we would win the game. Chelsea were in front, for me today is a good day. The players performed very well and for sure, if we scored a goal before them, we would win the game," BBC Sport quotes the manager as saying.

"The team were compact, good lateral movement and good dropping off. They pressed high and showed good mentality. 1-1 against Everton, Liverpool and Chelsea. Now we need to win our next game. West Brom next season will be in the Premier League.

"The players need to win matches. It is good on the pitch when the match finishes and West Brom has won. We will go for warm weather training to Spain to work together and for tactics."

The result moves West Brom out of the relegation zone, leaving them level on points with 18th-placed Sunderland.
